There are two ways your payment processing may work and the method of choice is determined by the event organizer. In the interest of full transparency, here are the steps for each type of payment processing:
Charge at Registration
- Upon completion of your registration, your payment method will be authorized and to ensure it has not expired then withdrawn immediately after
- If you cancel your registration, you will be issued a credit less any cancellation fees—only to be redeemed at that organization’s events
Charge at Gate Check-in
- Upon completion of your registration, your payment method will be authorized for accuracy and to ensure it has not expired then the authorization is immediately dropped
- Six days before the event, your payment method will be authorized again and a hold will be placed on your payment method based on for your amount owed
- Once you’ve arrived, checked in, and the event has been closed—the payment is then withdrawn from your account
